My Concept of Beauty

Do you like what you see in the mirror?

What is beauty? There are many conceptions about beauty. Many women are so obsessed about it. They would subscribe to fashion and beauty magazines, hoping that they could learn some tips and advices on how to become beautiful. They may also enjoy watching how-to videos on Youtube regarding makeup and hairstyles. They are willing to spend a lot of money on hair, cosmetics, clothes, shoes, accessories, and bags even when it would mean a huge percentage of their paycheck.

But why do women love to be beautiful? Is it because of men? Perhaps. (Related Article: How to Get a Guy to Love You.) Others have a more complicated reason beyond that. Women view beauty as a symbol of status. Being more beautiful than the rest of the women means they are superior.Women love competition. They want to look better than their peers, friends, classmates, and office mates.
While some women want to wear clothes that might reveal too much skin, they get angry when they find men leering over their body. It’s because sometimes, women dress not to attract guys, but to symbolize their power as a woman. While men love comparing their jobs, intelligence, and macho factor; women love comparing their beauty (among many other factors) with one another.

Teenagers are often insecure about their appearances. Their view on beauty is greatly affected by the media. Magazines and other forms of advertisements often depict women with perfect face and body. Little do they know that these women they adore are products of plastic surgeries or Photoshop.

Beauty is a very important thing to us women. We all want to look good. But we also have to keep in mind that physical attributes constitute only a little part to beauty. With regards to appearance, why not take care of your health instead of spending a lot on cosmetics, or even plastic surgery? A healthy body is reflected by a beautiful skin. If you eat healthy, you’ll feel good, your skin will look well hydrated, and your hair will shine beautifully. (Read about a healthy diet.) Consuming enough calcium and exercising regularly not only will give you healthy bones, but will also give you a great posture. (Read about how to have healthy bones.) Other than the appearance, being able to embrace yourself will reflect confidence. And of course, having a good heart is the most important aspect of beauty.

Hi, Judy. I agree. Women should learn to take care of their health and embrace themselves. That will truly make them beautiful. Thanks for dropping by and for the comment.

I find this post interesting to me. I was born with a genetic facial syndrome. It's called Waardenburg syndrome. It made my nose turn up. Given me cupid bow lip configeration and unusally brilliant mostly blue eyes. Though there is some hazel on the left eye. Why am I writing this. The point is what to most who see my face will only see its features. Little knowing they are caused by a genetic disorder. Fact is there literally thousands of facial disorders that affect how one looks,=.

Thanks for your interest in this post and for the comment. I hope more people will become aware of facial disorders and stop judging a person's character based on his/her features. The body is just a vessel of our souls. What is more important is what resides inside the vessel. What you had is beyond your control, but who you are is something you can decide.
